Buying a house for the first time can seem tedious and overwhelming, especially when it comes to financing. What does your debt-to-income ratio look like? Do you have enough money saved for additional costs? Are you able to identify your needs vs. wants? At Dallas Habitat, you’ll work with a HUD-certified Dallas Habitat HomeownershipHomeownership Counselor who will help you navigate the process and become mortgage-ready. Our team will prepare you for success in your home buying experience by providing one-on-one conversation regarding income, credit scores, debt-to-income ratio and building savings. These conversations and steps will help to lay the groundwork for purchasing your first home!

If you pass the pre-screen process, you will be allowed access to our online application. If you do not pass the pre-screen process, we still encourage you to continue your financial education via our free webinars at Dallasareahabitat.org/habitat-classes
Remember, you can only submit your responses one time, as any other submittals will be deemed invalid.
Please note, passing the pre-screen process does not guarantee you will qualify to purchase a home.

Dallas Habitat’s free digital education library, PocketWise CAFÉ®, brings financial education to your fingertips! These short, self-guided and interactive modules are offered at no-cost and are available to anyone, anywhere 24/7. Modules are mobile- and tablet-friendly. Topics include:

Self Guided Online HUD-certified Homebuyer Education Courses
In partnership with eHome America, Dallas Habitat offers an online version of HUD-certified (8-hour) Homebuyer Education. Easily accessible through any device 24/7, you can take this comprehensive, fun, and engaging course at your own pace. This course satisfies most lender and down payment assistance program requirements.
This class is not required to apply for our counseling program.
Live (Zoom) HUD-Certified Homebuyer Education
For those who prefer a more interactive, engaging class experience Dallas Habitat hosts a live version of this class (on Zoom). Join us to meet homeownership experts as you build your home buying team and get all your questions answered! This course satisfies lender and down payment assistance program requirements and certificates are issued upon completion.
This class is not required to apply for our counseling program.
The cost for the live course is $30/household
